I am doing a project on china and its new economic steps towards becoming a nation that runs on alternative energy sources. So i have 2 questions, economically, socially, and politically, what is driving China's government to do this. And second for the same reasons what will happen to China if and when this happens.
China going green?
Economically it makes perfect sense for a developing country to go green. Why? It's a renewable source. You don't have to process anything or use up any resources to use solar power and other natural, renewable resources. It also makes sense for a country as massive as China (in terms of size and population) because of the amount of resources it takes to continue using coal/nuclear power could be tremendous. Investing in solar or wind power might cost more to start out but it costs much less to use. Politically speaking, I'm not certain as I am not familiar with their government. However, it seems that United States is one of the few countries that has an economy that has strong grips on fossil fuel and nuclear technology. Getting rid of it entirely can cause a major hiccup, mostly with the wealthiest people in the country who, unfortunately, contributes to our governments political agenda in a major way. Not that this can't be changed, but the ones who can truly make a difference aren't always the most informed, thanks to our governments silent and invisible sensorship, nor do they want anything to change when everything seems to be going well. I'm sure that will change if our delicate weather system and our fragile environment changes drastically in the next few years, and once we take the blindfolds off that our glorious leader has put upon us.
As for what will happen to China if this happens...time will tell. I think that this will give them the competitive edge on the global economy and welfare of the Chinese.
Reply:yes, they're still behind on technology, but that's changing. their government is building cities completely outfitted with solar and wind power technology and energy efficient technology.

Reply:Hah! Loons wish. China is still red communist and will remain so unless it's people do something drastic to change that.
Reply:LMAO China going green??????!!!!!!!!! They produce a new coal fired power plant each week and it's with old fashioned technology.Their rivers are extremely polluted and alot of the flooding happening in China is due to strip mining and other land altering practices.Their is a car buying/driving boom going on in China as well.Believe me most of those cars are good old fashioned gas combustible engines.China going green...Get real!
Reply:China does not care about our thoughts on global warming. That said they want us to see what they are doing that we are not-nuclear power plants, solar electric turbine power plants and dams. They are making more bad refrigerants than the rest of the world combined -global warming and ozone depleting gases. there goal is to be a world leader. They know oil is expensive, are not making any more. The life expectancy of solar and nuks are longer than oil fired plants.

A green China?
I have read reports that as many as 2000 new cars are hitting the streets in china every day. These are not replacements but additional vehicles. That caculated to about 7.3 million vehicles in the next decade if the rate did not increase but by all logic it should. So as the western world becomes more independant of fossil fuels, how can we tell our Chinese friends that they can't have what we already have had for more than a half a century?
A green China?
I live in the central part of China as an ex pat from the USA
Most of the buses use CNG
It seems half the taxi's do too.
2,000 new cars a day is really nothing in a country this size.
However, China is also experiencing major traffic congestion in major cites and I suspect that China will take steps to curtail out of control sales.
China has one thing I have noticed that cities in the USA have sporadically. A good public transit system that is cheap and readily available. I can travel from one end of this city of 100,000 to the other in a bus for less then 8 cents. Or in a taxi for about $5. In Shanghai, they have a subway that is awesome. Buses and taxi's everywhere and its cheap. Even by Chinese standards.
Where I lived in the states it cost me $14 a day to take the subway to work, if I had to add a bus, it would have added $4. Here, it costs me 8 cents.
I think, China understands the value of keeping people on mass transit by keeping it cheap.

Reply:That is a problem. We've used fossil fuels to support our economis, now China, and others, are told not to do the same.
Reply:I am not sure, but I do know that China has a serious problem.
Reply:China is slowly coming around.
They are now starting to realize that unreduced global warming will damage their economy more than programs to reduce it will. If the world is spending many hundreds of billions on dealing with the effects of global warming, they're not buying nonessential consumer products from China.
And to realize that having air pollution bad enough to kill people can't be a good idea.
They've made all of America's mistakes in industrial development without adequate pollution control, but they seem to also be capable of learning from them.
Reply:Wait 4 china to reach saturation point, then they will only think GREEN,not now%26gt;it is a cycle
Reply:We can't, they already are funding foreign wars by exchanging weapons for oil (In Sudan for Darfur's oil).
Part of the answer is funding battery research to improve electric cars.
Reply:We can't. But there is a growing awareness in China of the environmental effects of their rapid growth. The local impacts are much more severe than the global ones, and much more likely to spark reforms. Don't be surprised if the next generation of low-pollution cars comes from China.
Reply:Its hard for China to do these things because they have a ***** load of people. The US has the highest pollution per capita than any other country. China is now the worlds largest polluter just because of the sheer number of people that they have, also China is a developing country so if they develop green energy rather than fossil fuels, chances are thats going to hurt their economy.

China Earthquake: Has Green Ram Temple in Chengdu survived the catastrophe?
Please, someone from China tell me the wonderful Green Ram Taoist Temple of Chengdu has not been destroyed by the earthquake!
China Earthquake: Has Green Ram Temple in Chengdu survived the catastrophe?
I haven't heard anything, but I did hear and see a picture of the Jin Xiu Dong Taoist Temple. That was destroyed unfortunately. What a horrible tragedy this earthquake has been, and the Myanmar tragedy as well. I hope they both see some relief soon....
Reply:I was thinking to myself 18,000 believed dead x 2 parents = 26,000 roughly rounded impacted, then 18,000 + 26,000 = 44,000 immediate contacts impacted, so 44,000 x 2 = 88,000 immediate friends of those initially impacted
Not counted are children of adults, siblings, aunts, cousins and/or marriage contacts, so you can double a simple math number to 178,000. Additionally, add those injured and those treating those impacted along with trade contacts and the natural 4-friend association and you an estimated 356,000…
If you had 356,000 people sign a ballot for anything- the largest stadiums hold 88k, so we are looking at 4 stadiums of people, how many cars is that?
Reply:Im sorry but is that all you are worried about is a building.
Please tell me that they find more people alive and well. My thoughts and prayers go out to all the families.
Reply:It survived.

Has anyone ever tried the china green tips hot tea from starbucks? is it any good?
First of all, I thought green tea was a Japanese thing. My wife is a J so all we know is jasmine and oolong as coming from China. Anyway, Starbux sucks as far as teas go. Hell, I go in there and all they do is plop a stupid tea bag in the cup.
Coffee is what they do best NOT tea.
Reply:I've never tried it, but although I'm not a big fan of Starbucks, I don't think I've ever had anything bad tasting there.
Reply:I've had it cold and it was ok... i wasn't really in the mood for it at the time - to sweet. But it wasn't bad.
Reply:It's my favorite, I drink it all the time. The Zen is good to.
Reply:I do believe that everything served at
Starbucks sucks balls
Try a real local coffee shop
where someone opened it
beacuse they have a passion for it.
CORPORATE COFFEE NOT JUST STARBUCKS SUCKS!!!
Reply:No, but in 1973 I had the gold tips from Acapulco... it was great!
Reply:no sry lol im more of a timmy hos person myself lol ♥

Does china green dieter brand really work?
This popular tea was used traditionally in China to help promote cleansing and digestion.* Its traditional Chinese name comes from the green-colored herbs in the formula.* Senna and malva verticillata are herbal stimulant laxatives that were used to promote bowel movements and cleansing.* Loquat leaf was said to cool and harmonize the stomach.* Licorice root was used to tonify the stomach and spleen, and to augment and harmonize the action of the other herbs.* It is known as the “Great Detoxifier” in Chinese herbology.* Research indicates that green tea’s antioxidants help promote healthy metabolism.* The decaf green tea in this formula is naturally decaffeinated using a carbon dioxide decaf process that retains the antioxidants.* Remember when dieting to follow a balanced weight loss diet and the advice of your health care professional.* Be sure to eat plenty of fresh vegetables, fruits, juices and pure water.* For additional support in cleansing, use this tea along with Triple Leaf Detox Tea.*
SUGGESTED USE: 1 cup after dinner, not to exceed 2 cups in 24 hours.* When first using this tea, make it weak by brewing it briefly.* Or, brew 1 tea bag in 2 cups of water for 2 minutes, remove the tea bag and drink 1 cup hot or cold.* Refrigerate the second cup to drink the next day.* After several days, you may gradually increase the strength to suit your individual taste.* Do not drink for more than 7 consecutive days unless directed by your doctor.*
Researchers from The University of Kansas recently measured the antioxidant content of green tea and found that it is roughly 100 times more effective than vitamin C and 25 times better than vitamin E.

Does china green dieters brand tea helps you loose weight?
How long do you have to drink it to see results?
How long do you drink to loose the first ten pounds?
Does china green dieters brand tea helps you loose weight?
I doubt that it does anything, most of them dont....;
Reply:Green tea doesn't have magical properties. Maybe having liquid in your stomach would help you eat less?
For antioxidant protection you need to drink a lot every day, probably 1-2 quarts minimum. Tea is a preferred beverage for the fast losers on the Kimkins Diet site. I make a fresh batch every morning to sip during the day.
If you want to lose weight permanently, you need to pick a personal diet plan for life. You have several weight loss choices:
1) Same diet but increase exercise. Weight loss is very slow.
2) Traditional diet like Weight Watchers or Nutrisystems. Weight loss is 1-2 lbs a week.
3) Low carb diets like Atkins or South Beach. Weight loss is 1-3 lbs a week. Less if you buy their food products.
3) Low cal low carb diets like Kimkins. Weight loss is 5% of total body weight the first week and continues very rapidly. It is similar to the diet on Biggest Loser.
Reply:only if you watch what you eat...sorry no magic fat melter. Green tea just eliminates toxins...if you don't heap more on top,

Would loose tea leaves from China (green & black) have harmful levels of pesticide?
China seems in general to have big problems with chemical contamination and pollution. Some tea they market as organic, but one wonders whether organic means the same to them as to us in the USA.
Would loose tea leaves from China (green %26amp; black) have harmful levels of pesticide?
Doesn't really matter which country it comes from, chemical contamination and pollution are the same world over. If you think that farmers in the USA and Canada are following the rules and not using banned chemicals etc. you'd be wrong. A person in my family is in horticulture, and there really aren't many inspections going on and mostly it's complaint based. I've talked to farmers who have never had an inspector on their farm in their 40 years in business. But, if it is from China and is certified by some organic certifying agent from your country that you trust, then I'd say that it's OK. Otherwise, who knows. Even organic farmers have all sorts of different standards and methods.
