My baby is 6½ months old, First he was taking powder milk ( Almiron) and after 6 month he was taking Nutrilon premimum. But when we came here in China that was not available so now I m giving him Nan by Nestle. And Since last 20days he started to take cereals Heinz (DHA + Vegetable ) and rice cereal by Nestle. But the problem is his stool is green in color and sometimes its dark green. I want to ask is it normal and if not then what is his problem?
Green stool of 6 and half month baby boy. Is it normal?
My son used to go once a day around the same time, it was never loose, really easy to clean up... It was great. And then.... He started eating veggies. That changed everything. Now it's 4 times a day, it's messy and it's all different colors, depending on whateve he eats and IT SMELLS. The doctor said that it's completely normal. New food=New poop.
Reply:yes it is totally normal. the stool of a baby vary depends on the diet. for the fully breastfed baby the stool is yellow and curdy with no smell or veri light smell. the baby who consume the formula will have dark yellow to green stool, and its quite smelly.
Reply:sometimes grreb stool can mean that his body is not digesting the green veggies too well and can stain the stool. take him dr to make sure though.
Reply:Stool color often change when a baby's diet changes. The formula could be causing a higher iron content. If it is more like diarrhea or stays that way then visit the doctor
Reply:Could be that he is taking in to much iron, but it is the Nan that I am interested in, if it is the Nan 1HA or 2HA then it is quite normal for them to have dark green stools, my 3 month old is on the Nan 1HA and hers are a funny greeny-bluey-greyish color
Reply:my son has had that and was perfectly healthy. I don't think that it is anything to be alarmed by. I was at first with my son and checked it out and my doctor said that it was fine just change in the food
