Whats the point of the green party or ecology in Scotland, UK?

Recyling, swtching the lights off, driving less, using public transport, using bottle banks....WHATS the point of this in my country?

Scotland has between 5 and 6 million people living in this country. Between the USA and China, the population added together, is in the billions. What possible difference to the world's ecology can it make when China, as the new largest economic super power will consume hundreds and thousands more of the Earth's natural resources than my country could possibly do?

The green party in britain is a complete and utter waste of time and space as far I am concerned, why aren't they campaining in the USA, Russia or China? The congestion charge, petrol tax, etc, will never change 1% of the world in the UK.

Why woul I ever bother? Please tell me?

Whats the point of the green party or ecology in Scotland, UK?
Everything starts somewhere, and the Greens started in Europe.

There are green movements all over the world although not in China, because they won't stand for anything remotely resembling another political movement... and believe me they would consider the greens to be a political movement.

That said, I've been reading about their so called 'Garden Tax' which seems to boil down to 'if you've got a big garden you pay more tax.' Personally, I reckon they should stick to commenting about renewables... that way they'll get treated as eccentric instead of being told they're total bloody idiots.

Oh, and as a SNP supporter, I can see the point of the Green Party in Scotland. They vote with the SNP on practically everything because the Scottish Greens are independence supporters.

Oh, the point of all the recycling is simple. Do you want to live next to a landfill? No. Me neither, so I recycle. The world does not need landfills next to every town. Ask Portsmouth.

And switch your lights off. Not because it saves the world, because it saves your wallet. Ditto for driving less, or haven't you noticed the price of petrol? If you happen to do a little to slow down pollution of the planet in the process, bonus.

No idea what the congestion charge has to do with Scotland... since that's a London moan.

I've no idea why you would bother, though.

Why does this bother you so much?
Reply:Ditto better for the kids, mate. Good question. Shame it only got me and one other interested. Report It

Reply:They do campaign in these countries. But only those who listen and act can make a difference..............
