I like your off the wall questions. But I can tell this is serious. I wondered similar things. OK, for instance, what is a continent? We all know it is basically a huge "island" if you will. So how are there 7 continents? Europe is unattached to Asia by a mountain range? You are in California, I am in Minnesota... is that a different continent? Russians are not refered to as Asian. My aunt, super huge Christian supposedly...she was mad because she hate Asians, but technically, Middle Easterners are Asian. Jesus was in the Middle East. People can just be mean. As long as you know America is cool, be happy :)

Reply:Map makers are not all racist, you are just being stereotypical against map makers. Countries are different colors so that people can tell them apart. But what is racist is that most maps are centered on America.

A lot of times, they have a code for why the colors are that way, for example, labels of population, etc. If racism is really an area of focus for you, and if you focused that kind of attention on racism issues that really mattered, the world would be better from it!
Reply:labeling diferent countries different colors isnt racist. Even if they did mean something by it. Racist isnt really the word. Racism says something about color not what county you come from. And anyway china would have to be yellow to truly mean something.

suppose they did colour countries differently according to their "values" (ie green representing money, or orange meaning orangutans !) hehe ;)





just out of curiousity: if you go to another country like china, what colour do they make the countries in their maps?





it would depend on the country of origin of the map, as to what the colours are percieved to represent!





so what do different colours mean to different cultures/countries??





and who decided what colours to assign to each country?





This could also tie into history which proves that people dressed in particular colours to distinguish/rank themselves (such as purple being "royal", and white for "pure")





also brings to mind the obvious label of a country's national flag: the colours and design were chosen to describe and portray a message/and represent the coutry in its essence (whatever that may be)





a little off track now but, anyway!! I honestly don't think they would really mean to do that, its kind of juvenile...

Reply:It isn't racist. They just color the countries differently so you can tell them apart with more ease. Also, all maps are different, so not every map has the u.s. green and China orange.
