Who agrees with the Tory idea of taxing faster cars and trying to force everyone into little pootly 1.2 litre?

...toy' cars? This is just a way of appeasing the tree-hugging greenies and making more money out of petrolheads.

There are MANY more cars in the USA and China etc and even if ALL of Britain's cars were destroyed tomorrow, it would not be more than a gnat's pee in the ocean if trying to reduce CO2 emissions. The power stations in China alone produce more CO2 in one day than Britain's cars do in a year.

I was going to vote Tory, not any more. Any party who tries to force me to be greener would only push me into trying to make my carbon footprint as large as possible in retaliation.

Fewer fast cars would perhaps keep the world going for a few more days but it would mean years of boredom and no fun.

I'll keep my fast cars, sod the greens and the (green) Tories.

Who agrees with the Tory idea of taxing faster cars and trying to force everyone into little pootly 1.2 litre?
Agree 100%!

All this 'greenwash' is really starting to annoy me. We (the UK) are a tiny little insignificant speck on the planet, and as has been said before, if we shut down this country tomorrow, China alone would make up the environmental difference in a matter of weeks!

Nobody wants to suffer climactic catastrophe, but I for one would feel a damn sight more positive towards it if I didn't feel my pocket being picked every time someone mentions anything 'green'

The motorist is always going to be a target because we're A) Traceable through DVLA, and B) have some money .

I currently run a 2.0 litre saloon, because it's as big as I need, but my next car will either be a big Jag, S-class Merc, or a 4x4, all with a V8 engine %26amp; sub-20mpg. Just because I can!

If petrol is so evil, we owe it to future generations to use it all up, yes?

Reply:do yourself a favour spend one evening of your life on the internet looking at the arguements for and against the thoery of global warming. it will take about 1/2 an hour to find out that that "all the scientist agree" claim is total tosh.. after about an hour you will find that even scientists who believe that co2 emmisions cause global warming are critical of some of the wilder claims ..... guys to look up philip stott and nigel calder both respected climate scientists or patrick moore former founder of greenpeace .. you like me will soon become convinced that all this co2 causes global warming is b*ll*cks.. over 99% of greenhouse gases are entirely natural mostly from the oceans. if we all went back to living in mud huts and tepees it would make sod all difference
Reply:in my personal opinion i think if poeple can justify why they drive the car they do they should be let off a bit on the tax. IE plenty of farmers etc require a 4x4 or pickup for day to day work on their farms (they woulod look a little silly in a prius!) and thuis should be taxed far less than women who own 'chelsea tractors' who live in central london and drive one just for the sake of a 20mins drive each morning to cover the 0.6miles to school!!

similarly i think if people choose to buy racer type cars or those with large engines then they shoudl be taxed ehavier as they have made that decision themselves and very few have solidly justifiable reasons for buying them other than pride and self indulgence (i know first hand as mu hubby drives a 2.8l golf and would easily be able to substiture with a smaller runaround)!!!

most of the poeple under 25 who buy the prepped up little racer cars only do so to impress their mates and are the most dangerous on the road as they feel a necessity to drive at 90mph everywhere. I think that it shoudl be the insurance that should rise which would initially put the people off of buying the vehicles in the first place rather than those of us who either have smaller cars and make do or genuinely need a reason to drive a bigger and more powerful car being taxed just for the government to get money out of us.

most people can manage with a car under 2l and of a reasonbale size (at the end of the day most cars are 5seater which fits perfectly with a 2.4 children family) and i dont see the point oif people getting big space wagons or 4x4's as a 'family' car when a small peugeout 206 or similar will suffice.

Mind you anyone seems to want to tax anything these days and i am sure one of these days a bicycle tax will be brought in as well to repay all the cycle lanes that have been created over the years!!

P.S dont they make enough out of speeding/ parking tickets these days to maintain the car tax rates ???!!!

:)
Reply:I'd like to tax you to the hilt for your total inconsideration for the environment. People driving 1.2 or smaller cars should get a tax rebate - the extra tax that people like you pay.

That said, I still would not vote Tory because they're a bunch of asre-heads who will never give up their own luxuries, except perhaps that blonde chap who's quite amusing.
Reply:Well people like you will eventually kill this planet. Thanks for sharing your strange view with us.
Reply:good idea , it will stop all the little boy racer's running around killing people
Reply:Thanks private erin, I live in the countryside, only occassional public transport and disabled. Take my car off me and I`m housebound. Get me a bottle of milk next time you are at the shops.
Reply:I'd ban all the cars in the world tomorrow. Even if there was no climate change, I'd ban them. They're smelly, ugly and they've destroyed the social fabric and countryside. They're the worst invention ever and famously a penis-substitute. I wish we could send you to another planet to mess that up.

I just want you to know that I take as long as I can to cross the road, and taunt the motorists while I do it.
