Can I adopt a child, domestically or internationally, in the US if I have green card and not yet citizenship?
It would probably be very difficult, based on your status as a non-citizen. There would be citizenship issues with the child.
*Would he be a citizen of the US, or of Italy?
*Would Italian law come into play, since you are still an Italian citizen?
*What if you go back to Italy? What happens to the child?
